How I make that money, honey!

How I make that money....

When I started college back in 1999, I thought that I would be a pre school teacher when I "grew up." But after 2 quarters of college and working at a day care for 1 year...I decided that wasnt the best plan for me. I HATED school, and I wasnt sure that I wanted to take care of other peoples kids ALL day long.

So I decided that I would go to Beauty school! It was there that I found my passion: Making people feel beautiful, and helping them see their God given beauty. I have been doing hair on and off for over 10 years and I LOVE it.

Recently God has allowed some BIG changes in my life....while I still do hair sometimes...my fulltime job for the past 7 years has been in Radio, I was a radio sales rep and then a promotions coordinator for a group of 9 radio stations. It was an awesome job and I learned SO much about marketing and copy writing. But then God told my husband and I that I needed to be somewhere to better serve Him...So I quit my job. Without. having. another. job. This was one of the SCARIEST things I have EVER done. But, God promised me that He would be faithful.

The day after I gave my two weeks notice, I was offered a job at Life Choices Clinic.
I had just started volunteering there, and they had a position opening up called the "Development Assistant" the details included: Marketing, donor management, social media content creation and management and some other duties. But, OH MY WORD this was everything that I had been doing for the past 7 years! God had been preparing me this whole time for THIS JOB! Life Choices Clinic is a Non Profit Christian ministry that offers free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, life skills classes, and counseling to Women in a unplanned pregnancy situation. We provide hope, and choices for them in a very difficult situation. We are pro-life, and we speak love into their lives. We are the compassionate face of the pro-life movement, no hype, no politics. Just love, and support. I LOVE my job...its the best job I have ever had. EVER.

So thats my job...I am the development assistant for Life Choices Clinic! Our website is here, www.lifechoicesclinic.info  if you want to learn more about what we do!

I also sell Scentsy ( I love that too!) Here is my website!  https://heatherlawless.scentsy.us/Scentsy/Home

This past week my husband and I house sat for my cousin....which was VERY nice because we were able to have some alone time (since we life in my parents house, with my dad). We spent alot of time together talking and just being together. It was very good for our relationship!

My husband is SO funny...here are some of the things that completely cracked me up this week.

As we drove by this:

the hubs said " hey babe, dont you think that those hay bales are like huge giant fruit roll ups for cows? " I looked at him and said "huh?" He said " you know because its rolled up, and its like a treat for the cows...like a huge fruit roll up!" I laughed So hard....then we saw a truck with a huge load of hay bales like that and he said "its like a huge case of fruit roll ups!" He's crazy.

During dinner one night, he was explaining to me how women have it so much easier than men, because they dont get judged on how the eat or if they itch themselves in public...and how pillow shams should be outlawed from being on beds. Haha, I am such a lucky girl!
Happy Monday!!

Rock and Worship Roadshow

Last night we took our kids to the Rock and Worship Roadshow in Spokane!!

It was SO awesome! Our daughter Kendra went last year, when Toby Mac was the headliner....this year Mercyme was the headliner...I LOVE them! It was SO powerful watching thousands of people worship! That's probably one of my favorite things in life is to worship, and watch people worship.
Whats event better is watching my kids raise their hands and worship! There was music there for every taste! It was SO much fun...and I will definitely make sure that we go next year!

maurices Main Street Model Search: Heather Lawless - Juliaetta, ID

Hey Bloggy friends! I need your help to give $7500 to a local charity in my town! Please click on the link to vote....and read my bio!

maurices Main Street Model Search: Heather Lawless - Juliaetta, ID

Bio:

I have always been told that I was "pretty"....and when I was in college, I had a huge struggle with being "beautiful" I wanted to be perfect in such a big way that I developed an eating disorder. I had always been heavier, and so I decided I would get "skinny" and be perfect. What I found was that even when I was thin, I still struggled with being beautiful. Now that I am married, and have a beautiful daughter...I realize that I even though I am not "skinny" I am still beautiful, and women of ALL sizes are beautiful. I feel that if I was chosen, I could show girls who are not the perfect size 4 or 8 or even 10, that they are gorgeous. I think I would be a good "role model" as well as a "model".... My hometown is very small, I lived in a town that had 500 people and went to school in a town 3 miles away that had 420 people. My parents owned one of the small business in town, and everyone knew everyone's business. When I was in high school all I could think of was "getting out" and moving away to the "big city". Well, I did, and I ended up coming back! Now all I want is for my kids to grow up in that same small town...where you know everyone...and you wave at every car that drives by. Living and growing up in a small town makes you realize what is really important...and makes you appreciate it. The way that our town comes together when something happens...everyone rejoices together, everyone mourns together, and everyone supports one another. There is nothing better than that! If I was chosen, I would donate the prize money to the "Willow Center for Grieving Children" as a child growing up, we were a foster home...and many of the children that we had come through our home were there because they had lost their parents. I saw so much hurt, anger and sadness in those kids, and I remember thinking how lucky I was because I still had both of my parents....Now as an adult, I realize just how much it hurts to have one of your parents or loved ones pass away. My mom passed away three years ago....it was very unexpected, and I miss her very much. I cant imagine what it would have been like to lose my mom when I was younger. The Willow Center, helps children and families grieve....they help them go through the process, and really mourn. "The preventive program provides group support coordinated by mental health professionals and trained volunteers to promote the expression of grief and loss; the understanding of death, loss and the process of grief; and decrease feelings of isolation associated with grief. " They change lives....and support these kids who have lost someone they really love. The provide help, hope and healing.

I've been thinking a lot about my goals for 2012....I have always hated "new years resolutions" because I, for one have never stuck to them....but it seems like people set a resolution, then when they dont stick to it, they give up. Thats why I am setting goals for the whole year...and not resolutions.

With my new job it seems like I am spending ALOT more time at work, and that is different for me...I am missing my family...and I am super tired.

But I know that one of the reasons I am SO tired is because I am not taking care of my body. Since 2005...I have gained almost 70 pounds, and as of right now, I am not exercising regularly, I am not drinking water...and I am making poor food choices. I want to be healthy...and I want to be thinner...but I am SO addicted to food.

In our womens group at church right now we are learning about living the healthy life...mind, body and spirit...and I want to commit to living healthier...not just losing weight. I need to drink 130 ounces of water a day...and I need to be active EVERY SINGLE DAY. And I know that I can...as long as I rely on the Lord...and not my own will.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Philipians 4:13

I can do ALL things through Christ who gives me strength

  • I will drink 130 ounces of water every day
  • I will be active every day
  • I will not reward myself with food
  • I will not comfort myself with food
  • I will comfort myself with the Lord
  • I will try to make good food choices
